Paul is a senior member of the Firm's Litigation practice area and insurance practice area.
His Litigation practice and experience covers a broad range of commercial litigation matters over a private practice law career for 35 years. In representing Insurance companies in defence or subrogation positions, his portfolio of insurance law cases covers liability & property damage claims, arson and general fire losses, life insurance, creditor-mortgage life/disability insurance and fidelity bond claims. Paul has had cases and litigated in areas of corporate/shareholder disputes, commercial and banking fraud, real estate disputes, construction litigation, bankruptcy and insolvency, serious personal injury and death claims, tort claims concerning property rights, defamation, municipal law, trust & estate litigation and legal issues concerning Vulnerable Persons Living With a Mental Disability.
Paul's recent major cases include representation of a financial institution and investors in situations of commercial fraud/conspiracy and misappropriation of funds.
Paul acts as general counsel or advisor to several financial institutions and insurance companies. He has acted as counsel to lenders and investors on specific financial matters, refinancings & loan workout deals, foreclosures and enforcement procedures.
Paul received his call to the Manitoba Bar in 1975 and practiced in Winnipeg until 1979. He and his family then relocated to Calgary, where he became a litigation partner in the Beaumont, Church law firm. He practiced law in Calgary for 8 years as a member of both the Manitoba and Alberta Bars until 1987, when he and his family moved back to Winnipeg and he joined the D'Arcy & Deacon law firm. Paul has been an active practicing member of both the Manitoba and the Alberta Law Societies concurrently since 1979 to date.
Paul has been a partner of the Firm for many years and has served as member and Chairman of its Management Committee.
Paul and his wife Marguerite have been married for 34 years and have two daughters who are very much part of their family life.
Paul is an avid golfer as a member of the Pine Ridge Golf Club.
