Bradley D. Regehr

Mr. Regehr joined the firm in 2001. A member of the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation, Mr. Regehr practices primarily in the areas of Aboriginal, Administrative and Regulatory, Environmental Law, Real Estate Law, and Corporate and Commercial Law. Mr. Regehr serves as legal counsel for a wide variety of individuals, First Nations, and First Nation organizations (both provincially and federally) on matters ranging from land claim settlements, commercial ventures, negotiations, leasing, jurisdictional disputes regarding health and natural resources, and real estate transactions. Mr. Regehr also serves other clients including commercial lenders on various commercial activities.

Some of Mr. Regehr's achievements include:

  • legal counsel to First Nations in commercial ventures, including new reserve creations and economic development ventures
  • drafting and preparation of First Nation settlement trusts
  • appearances before the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development
  • legal counsel to aboriginal communities regarding hydro development settlements and partnerships
  • legal counsel to First Nations regarding the negotiation and development of municipal development and service agreements
  • drafting of election codes and Indian Act by-laws
  • participation in preparation of GST Remission Order
  • drafting of Wills & Estates guide for First Nations Peoples living on reserves

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Regehr was Corporate Counsel and Executive Director of the Treaty Land Entitlement Committee of Manitoba Inc. His work there related to the implementation of the Manitoba Treaty Land Entitlement Framework Agreement, which provides for the creation of 1,100,626 acres of new reserves. Mr. Regehr continues to provide legal services to a variety of First Nations and First Nation organizations as well as working in the volunteer sector.

Prior to joining the Treaty Land Entitlement Committee of Manitoba Inc., Mr. Regehr had articled and practiced at the law firm of Pitblado in the City of Winnipeg. Mr. Regehr has also taught courses in Business Law at the Red River Community College and courses in Aboriginal Peoples and Canadian Law for the Department of Native Studies at the University of Manitoba and the Department of Politics at the University of Winnipeg.
