Mr. Stewart is a partner of the firm and practices Commercial Law. He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1958 and received his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Manitoba in 1980. He graduated with an LL.B in 1992 and was called to the Manitoba Bar in 1993.
Prior to returning to law school in 1989, Mr. Stewart started a grain farm in Poplar Point, Manitoba and worked for six years in oil and gas exploration in both the Canadian Arctic and offshore in South America. In 1986 Mr. Stewart formed Stewart Ag Services which assisted in re-organizing and restructuring agricultural operations experiencing financial difficulty.
After establishing himself in a private practice in 1993, Mr. Stewart focused primarily on corporate and commercial transactions, receiverships, financing, real estate conveyancing and commercial re-organizations.
Since joining D'Arcy & Deacon in 1998, Mr. Stewart's practice has expanded to include more complex corporate and commercial transactions, with particular emphasis on agri-business concerns. Mr. Stewart's practice includes acting for international grain companies, manufacturing corporations, integrated livestock corporations and numerous off-shore privately held organizations.
Mr. Stewart serves on the executives of numerous not-for-profit organizations and associations, and actively farms at Poplar Point, Manitoba.
Mr. Stewart is married and has four children.
